What makes Cherubs different
Three influences. One thoughtful approach.
We draw on Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and Te Whāriki to help children make choices, explore ideas, and feel connected. Our teachers bring these influences together through everyday play, routines, and relationships.
Montessori
Confidence through doing
Thoughtfully arranged spaces and hands-on activities encourage children to choose, concentrate, and practice everyday skills. Teachers offer guidance while giving each child time to try for themselves.
Reggio Emilia
Curiosity worth following
Children’s questions and interests help shape explorations. Art, building, movement, and conversation give them many ways to express ideas, solve problems, and learn with others.
Te Whāriki
A strong sense of belonging
New Zealand’s early childhood curriculum connects learning with wellbeing, relationships, family, and culture. We draw on these principles to value each child’s identity and support their development as a whole person.
How the three approaches come together
In a planting activity, a child might practice watering independently, explore a question about how plants grow through drawing and discussion, and share a gardening tradition from home. One experience can bring together practical skills, creative inquiry, and family connection.
Experiences are adapted to children’s ages, interests, and abilities.
Our founder, Marie Chella Vergara, holds a degree in Early Childhood and Family Studies from the University of Washington and has studied early childhood programs in Reggio Emilia, Italy, and Auckland, New Zealand.

Meet our teachersCare, comfort & communication
How will you help my child settle in?
Share your child’s routines, interests, and comfort strategies with the team. We’ll discuss a settling-in plan together, with practical first-day and drop-off guidance. Every child adjusts at their own pace.
Preparing for the first dayHow will I hear about their day?
Procare connects families with shared photos, activity updates, and messages, depending on the features enabled at your campus. Updates are shared as staff duties allow; caring for children comes first.
Family conferences take place at least twice a year to talk about your child’s strengths, progress, and next steps together.
How we use ProcareWhat about health and safe pickup?
Cherubs is nut-free, and administration reviews food from home before it is brought to school. We coordinate allergies and individual care plans with families. Pickup requires written authorization; staff may request photo ID.
